Today, while skype is running in my notebook, it suddenty crashed and closed. I re-try to open it and while it is opening after the login window appears one sec it suddenly hiding and skype begins to use %100 of one of my CPU while it says Signing in..
I wait a lot but it could not signed in. Also it continued to use my cpu %100. I tried many things (restarting, even re-installing skype) but had no luck.
In the event logs there was an event like;

After that I tried to run my skype from the command line with the following command;
"C:\Program Files (x86)\skype\Phone\Skype.exe" /nosplash /maximized
and it fixed.
May be you have the same problem and this information might help to you...
NOT: The path is for the 64bit platforms, if you are using 32 bit windows then you should use;
"C:\Program Files\skype\Phone\Skype.exe" /nosplash /maximized
